Ongo Appoints Expert in Myanmar E-commerce, Sumit Jasoria to Lead Its Commercial Operations

YANGON, MYANMAR, 22 MAY 2018 – Ongo, a leader in the mobile financial services industry in Myanmar, today announce that they have appointed Sumit Jasoria as Chief Commercial Officer. As CCO, Jasoria will now lead Ongo’s Business Development, Marketing and Consumer Engagement strategies.

Prior to joining Ongo, Jasoria held senior roles with sector heavyweights including his recent position as the Regional Managing Director of Daraz e-Commerce (A venture of Rocket Internet in Asia which is now part of Alibaba Group). In addition, he was also the Managing Director of two of the largest Myanmar e-commerce ventures of Rocket Internet, namely shop.com.mm and kaymu.com.mm.

During his time at Daraz, Jasoria also held positions including Head of Marketing, Product Marketing Manager (Bharti Airtel) and Business Development Manager (Godrej Properties), building a considerable profile for himself in the fast-paced online finance and commerce market. Drawing from his vast experience in prominent e-commerce companies, he has established a proven track-record in successfully managing key organizational functions such as business development, marketing and branding, as an emerging markets expert. Jasoria, also holds an MBA in Marketing & Business Strategy from the University of Delhi and a B.E.(Hons.) in Computer Science from the University of Rajasthan.
